St. Mary School Logo  Curriculum


St. Mary Catholic School offers educational experiences for students preschool through eighth grade.  Each school year consists of 180 student instruction days and 4 nine-week grading periods.


BASIC CURRICULUM:

Religion, Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Reading, Art, Music, Literature (grades six through eight), Social Studies, Library, Physical Education, Science, Language Arts (which includes Phonics for grades kindergarten to grade three, Spelling for grades one through eight, basic English as well as Creative Writing), Learning Development Testing and Guidance through the Northwest Indiana Co-op, and Computer (kindergarten through grade eight).


EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:

Sports programs for boys and girls (basketball, cheerleading, soccer, track and volleyball), Band, Choir, Yearbook, Field Trips, Scouts for girls and boys, Art and Essay Contests, Community Projects and Programs, Performing Art Center Art Fair, Spelling Bees, Student Council, and Spell Bowl and Math Bowl for grades 4-6. In addition to the above activities and programs, students participate in Community and Global Service Projects.
